Research at Cal Sinus

Our research efforts are directed towards better understanding of the causes of sinus disorders and developing safer and more effective treatment options.  Specifically, we are interested in elucidating the underlying etiology of chronic rhinosinusitis and developing evidenced based guidelines for the safe management of patients with chronic rhinosinusitis.

We currently have active research programs or collaborations involved in:

  • Genetics of chronic rhinosinusitis and asthma
  • Epithelial ion regulation in chronic rhinosinusitis patients
  • Risk of intraocular pressure elevation with the common practice use of topical steroids
  • Informed consent in FESS (sinus surgery)
  • Surgical outcomes and management of esthesioneuroblastoma
